June Moments (2019)

Chase started the month off by ‘ringing the bell’ meaning he moved up a level in swimming. Good job, Chase!

Kaiya snapped this pic of mom at Moen Park.

Kaiya finally realized her dream of starting ballet lessons. She was seriously over the moon. She’s just doing an eight-week summer session to see how much she likes it.

We started on our tradition of making a piñata for the boys’ birthday party.

And hiked Blueberry Loop with friends.

On the evening of James’ birthday I sent him to buy himself an ice cream cake to celebrate, because I am the worst wife ever!

Thomas went on his first airplane trip by himself. He got to go visit his cousins Maddison and Riley in Alabama and go to Space Camp. He was so excited and Thomas, I am so proud of you. I can’t believe how big you are!

Chase and Stuart asked for a combined birthday party this year. Chase turned 5 and Stuart 3. We lucked out with some beautiful weather.

Then it was off to the dentist. It was Stuart’s first time, and he wanted to go first.

Shortly after the dentist Kaiya lost her front tooth. She asked to have it tied to the door knob, so we did. It surprised me out of her, but she loved the thrill.

And next thing we knew the other front tooth fell out too. (Also doorknob method.)

We picked up the banners that I had been working on for the school all year. Someday soon NLABC should have 54 patriotic-themed character-building banners in it’s hallways. Stuart wouldn’t let Kaiya pull the wagon, as far as he was concerned it was his job.

Thomas got back from his trip and it warmed me to see him doing what Dad usually does: Pulling out all the treats he got for each kid while he was away. The sweet boy even brought candy home for mom and dad. I love your generous heart, Thomas.

We hiked McHugh Creek with a group of friends. Chase and I had some quality bonding time, and I just think he’s the cutest.

We’ve been taking the kids to H20asis in the evenings to help reinforce what they’re learning in swim lessons. Stuart didn’t want to leave. For one of my classes I had been given an assignment to take an emotional photo, and so the opportunity presented itself and I took this:

Kaiya has been experimenting with her style a lot this summer. She has been wearing things in unconventional ways. This day it was wearing a skirt as a shirt.

I used to take a photo of my kids every Sunday. I need to start doing that again.

Swimming lessons are still going. Four days a week all summer…

This was on a hike at the Campbell Creek Science Center. Thomas has discovered the portability of his MP3 player. It’s pretty funny because he uses the mic to record songs then listens to them.

Stuart learned how to ride a bike. He just picked it up and knew what to do.

We biked from Valley of the Moon to Westchester Lagoon and back. This is the same place Thomas learned to ride a bike last year. It is a perfect trail for kids learning to ride! More about that here.

Thomas finally found a vending machine on Craigslist. He put it in Grandma and Grandpa’s store and is hoping to have started a profitable business for himself.

This is the way Kaiya dresses for swim lessons every day. She can never have too many accessories.

On my birthday, the kids and I hiked the Alyeska North Face with some dear friends. Lots more about that hike here.

And lastly, Thomas had a great time at Cub Scout Camp.
